According to the latest Container Intelligence Monthly report of Clarkson Research Services, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) has moved up four places in the world rankings of container ships owners, now standing at 19th.
IRISL was classified number 23 in the same period last year.
For the second consecutive month, IRISL currently has the capacity of 92,674 twenty-foot-equivalent unit (TEU), which places it at the 19th largest owner of container ships.
The recent improvement of ranking indicates the emergence of Iran’s massive maritime trade sector after the lift of sanctions, as well as the country’s possession of the largest maritime transport in the Middle East.
