A Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) facility was inaugurated at the Kamarajar Port in Ennore this morning. The facility will improve ship navigation in the port and the adjacent coastal waters.
Pon Radhakrishnan, Union Minister of State for Road Transport Highways and Shipping, inaugurated the ₹14.10-crore VTMS facility at the port.
The facility installed at the port’s signal station will facilitate safer ship movements at the port and outer anchorage. It will also help detect oil spills at an early stage in the harbour area.
A similar facility has also been installed at Chennai Port.
