Speaking to IRNA, Mousavi said the capacity has increased thanks to operation of four tankers with the capacity to reserve up to one million barrels of crude oil in Kharg Island. He said the project was inaugurated in a video-conference ceremony by Minister of Oil last week.
He said operation of new tankers has increased the volume of crude oil storage in Kharg Island to 27 million barrels from 23 million barrels.
Mousavi said Iran has managed for the very first time in the history of its oil sales to make a new record by exporting 7 million bpd.
“Over the past few weeks, eight ports at Kharg oil terminal were simultaneously inaugurated and after ten years the export of seven million bpd was made possible,” he said.
The increase in Iran’s oil exports to Japan and India has stepped up the level of the country’s exports in April, although China’s oil imports from Iran have slightly dropped.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said that Iran doubled oil exports over the past several months and in case of termination of sanctions, noting that necessary measures have been taken for an urgent increase in production and exports.
Immediately after termination of the sanctions, Iran would increase output by 800,000 bpd to its full capacity of 3.6 million within three months.
